Anglican Centre for Youth Ministry Studies

The Anglican Centre for Youth Ministry Studies is an exciting new development dedicated to the long-term strategic development of Youth Ministry across the three Tikanga of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia

The Anglican Centre for Youth Ministry Studies is based at College of St John The Evangelist for the following reasons:

  • The St John's College site has a long history of theological education and ministry formation which the youth wish to honour and continue.
  • Auckland as a city is easily accessible for all three Tikanga. Auckland is the gateway to the Pacific, and the largest Polynesian city in the world. One quarter of Māori live in Auckland and it holds over a quarter of the New Zealand population.
  • The three Tikanga vision has been lived out on the site since the birth of Te Pouhere / the Revised Constitution. It is a site of common life and of whanaungatanga which the Anglican Centre for Youth Ministry Studies benefits and learns from, and contributes to.
  • The Centre is developing strong ties to the academic, intellectual and spiritual life of the combined College.
  • The Centre is a place for youth to come together and build a future. On-site it forms a creative incubator to strengthen the life of the Church throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
